Santiago de Chile, the capital of Chile, lies in the Andes and is the political and cultural centre of the country. It is well known for its breathtaking views of the snow-capped Andean peaks surrounding the city, the wide Río Mapocho river, its modern and progressive music scene and for the fresh, modern appearance of the city. Our language school is located in a historic building in a friendly district only 10 minutes away from the city centre. Numerous parks are ideal for cycling or having a picnic. The city also organises a number of artistic and musical events for the city’s residents, such as the yearly ‘Festival Internacional de Teatro Santiago a Mil’, one of Chile’s most important theatre festivals. Street artists entertain visitors in the neighbourhood of ‘Barrio Lastarria’. Santiago´s music scene is very diverse. Here traditional Salsa and Merengue rhythms are fused with electropop, folk and rock. The nightlife in Santiago begins after midnight, especially in the art bohemian district of ‘Bellavista’, where you can find the best restaurants, discos and pubs. The beaches in Valparaíso or the ski slopes of 'El Colorado' can be reached easily in about one and a half hour by car. Climbers climb the peaks of the Andes above the clouds in order to enjoy the fantastic view of the vast country.
