Since 1979 our school has been one of the best teaching institutes for English in Bournemouth and has an excellent reputation. Our top language school teaches international participants and there are few German speaking students. Our language school is centrally located, with the town centre and beach a short 10 minute bus journey away. The Victorian school building was built 120 years ago and has been now renovated. Queen's Park is also nearby, where you can study for your classes under a canopy of lush green leaves.

The school provides high quality English language courses thanks to the dedication and commitment of its staff. The school is also a specialist training centre for English teachers. It is one of the few established language schools worldwide that offers specialised group courses for English teachers and professors. Specialised courses in the field of tourism and hotel management are also taught professionally here.

Organised activity programme »

The friendly school team organises film evenings, cultural events, Scottish dancing evenings or visits to the theatre for course participants. In addition, day trips to places such as Bath, where the Romans used the local hot springs to bathe, or to the exciting capital of London, the traditional university towns of Oxford and Cambridge, or even to the Isle of Wight are also organised.

• Our courses normally start on Monday. If the day coincides with a public holiday, the start of the courses will be postponed to the following Tuesday (see calendar);

• our language courses in Bournemouth cover the language levels from A1 (absolute beginner) to C1 (level of linguistic autonomy);

• our super intensive course in Bournemouth is recognised in several German states as a Bildungsurlaub;

• during your stay in Bournemouth, you can choose to live with the host family or in a shared apartment with other students. The accommodation is easily accessible on foot (see accomodation).

Specialised courses for professions »

The intensive course is a combination of General English (Standard Course) and 1 Specialised English course (4 lessons per week), which can be selected by participants. They can choose from the following fields:

• pronunciation & conversation;

• reading, spelling and listening comprehension;

• travelling & tourism;

• media and culture.

Those who want to deal with a specific field intensively can choose Super-Intensive course. In addition to General English (Standard Course) they will also have 8 lessons of specialised English per week and will choose two topics from the fields mentioned below:

• writing business letters;

• presentations;

• business negotiations and discussions;

• making phone calls and writing e-mails

English Language Course organisation »

On arrival you have enough time to settle in your accommodation. On the first day of school you will be divided into classes according to your language level, in order to ensure effective and fast learning. After the lessons you will have time to explore the city and take part in many activities that the school organizes every week. You can explore the city on your own. Our team is at your disposal for any advice about the most characteristic places in the city, from the best restaurants and clubs to spend the evenings, to the most indicated streets for shopping.
The best way to learn a foreign language is by connecting with the locals: that’s why staying with a host family is ideal for you to acquire a good level of English in a short time and gives you the opportunity to practice the knowledge acquired during your lessons. City tours also offer many opportunities to speak the language.

Language certificates »

At our language school in Bournemouth we offer the following exam preparation courses: preparation for the IELTS and the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE,).

Please note:

• You must have at least basic knowledge of the language to enrol on the course (FCE: B1; CAE: B2; CAE: B2; CPE: C1; IELTS: B1). Enrolment on the course is therefore subject to a grading test before the course starts.

• The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, so we can only offer limited teaching in that week.

• You must register for the IELTS exam online in advance!

• IELTS: You must register for the IELTS exam at least 2 months in advance. You will find more information as well as the application form at www.ielts.org.

• You must pay the exam fee while in Bournemouth. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will be.
