Rouen is a beautiful French city in Normandy. On its narrow, cobbled streets you will feel as though you’ve travelled back in time to the French middle ages. The impressive gothic cathedral is the town’s main landmark and the former port has been renovated – today boasting various restaurants, cafés and the perfect place to go for a stroll. In terms of gastronomy, Normandy is famous for its cheese, its apples which are turned into cider and, of course, its fish and oysters which are caught daily on the coast. A modern museum has also been built in memory of Joan of Arc. -
Course participants and diversity:
The majority of our course participants travel to Rouen alone and meet their friendly fellow French learners from all over the world on the first day of classes at our LISA! Language School. Our course participants are typically students and educated young professionals between the ages of 20 and 35, as well as professionals between the ages of 35 and 45. Over-50s will feel equally as welcome on this language course. Our language school in Rouen offers a special course for over-30s. -
The language school itself:
Our language school is located in the tranquil Botanical Gardens area of Rouen. The city centre can be reached on foot within 25 minutes. In the vicinity of the language school there are various cafés, boutiques and shops. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the school building. -

We use the Direct Method when teaching French and employ a selection of the world’s best French teachers. Alongside traditional French language courses, our language school in Rouen offers an intensive exam preparation course for both D.E.L.F and D.A.L.F exams, as well as a French culinary course. When do I have to book by?
We can usually make bookings at short notice, depending on flight availability. We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance.
How much does a language course in Rouen cost?
A 2-week language course in Rouen with 20 French lessons per week, including a single room with a host family (half-board) costs £959

Will there be a language proficiency test at the beginning of the course?
Yes. There will be a language proficiency test on the first day and you will then be placed into an appropriately-levelled class, ranging from A1 to C2.
Can I choose to book the language course without accommodation?
Of course! We’ll happily advise you on the cost of the language course alone.
When do I have to pay by?
Upon finalising the contract (after we have received travel confirmation and all relevant documents), a down payment in the amount of 20% of the cost of the trip, but at least £200, plus any insurance premiums is payable. The remaining balance is to be paid 28 days before departure.

Getting there and services we provide:
We’ll happily book a low-cost flight to Paris for you. We recommend that you then travel to Rouen with public transport, or a transfer service from either the airport or train station can be organised. You can also take a taxi should you wish.
